The Assistant Care Supervisor is expected to serve as a good role model to safeguard and promote the welfare of our clients with special needs. She should be very observant, attentive to the needs of the clients, and adopting a holistic care approach by looking into the physical, education, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the clients at all times.


The Assistant Care Supervisor is to ensure that she performs her job in compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures including the Territorial Child Protection Policy and all relevant government rules and regulations including those governing the Malaysia Care Centre Act.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible to supervise the assessment, planning and implementation of the programme for each individual resident and to conduct yearly Individual Enhancement Plan with parents.

2. Responsible to supervise care associates in planning suitable timetable and monthly lesson plans.

3. Be responsible to the needs of the residents and their safety at all times eg. During meals, bath time, rest time, recess, excursion etc.

4. Responsible to advise and supervise care associates and assistant care associates in preparing all teaching materials and equipment required for daily lessons.

5. Responsible to help maintain stimulating environment within the classroom at all times and ensure centre areas are clean and tidy.

6. Responsible to ensure care associates/assistant care associates complete the assigned class register daily.

7. Responsible to ensure care associates/assistant care associates maintain regular records for resident’s individual files and complete a yearly progress report for each resident in the class.

8. Responsible to ensure care associates/assistant care associates abide in Daily Physical Checking Records, Daily Temperature Record, Incident Reports (if any), Weekly Review of Programs/Lessons plans and Monthly Work Records (Sheltered Employment Program & Adult Day Program).

9. Supervise in the planning and execution of field trips/excursions/community functioning/performances, even if it’s outside of normal working hours.

10. Supervise and provide advice for any indoors and outdoors play & group activities.

11. Maintain tidiness and accept responsibility within the Centre at all times.

12. Maintain good attendance, good time management, good dress code and self-discipline at all times.

13. Establish regular contacts and communications with parents at all times with the knowledge of management. Always check and confirm information before communicating with parents

14. Attend and find suitable training courses to be attended by care associates/assistant care associates with the approval of management.

15. Attend any meetings organized by government agencies as and when required by the management.

16. Maintain professional conduct at all times when dealing with residents, parents, visitors, donors, sponsors and other colleagues.

17. Establish regular feedbacks to the management concerning the operations of the centre or any issues involving staffs, parents or residents.

18. Maintain readiness at all times to take control of the operation of centre when there is a need.

19. Provide initiative actions and constructive feedbacks in maintaining quality service and programs in the Centre towards the development of each resident.

20. Provide assistance in planning and actively involved for any fund-raising activities for the centre.

21. Attend to all other reasonable requests or assistance from the Supervisor of the Centre.


Job Requirements

  • Minimum with SPM or higher education relevent to Special Needs Children
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the same field
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team
  • Required language(s): English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin
  • Commitment to working with students with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build good relationships based on trust with students and their families
  • Behaviour management skills, with the ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
  • Initiative, problem-solving skills and teamworking skillsto liaise with other care associate
  • An observant and responsive approach
  • Flexibility - it's important to be able to respond to the needs of the students and adapt or change plans accordingly
  • Positive, energetic and enthusiastic outlook

Working Hours

Monday to Friday (8.00am to 5.00pm)

Saturday(8.30am to 12.30pm)
