GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is work at the full performance level within the court system. The clerical duties, which are technical in nature, involve Criminal and Civil Court cases with a high degree of security and confidentiality. Typical responsibilities include: Receptionist duties, assisting supervisor with a variety of administrative details, supervising non-technical operations, operating typewriter, personal computer, word processor, data entry equipment, and other general office equipment. Other responsibilities include maintaining court calendar sorting and routing mail, maintaining warrant ticklers, and fiscal responsibility for filing fees and fines paid etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Docketing new cases
- Filing
- Answering phones
- Accepting payments
- Processing payment orders
- Waiting on the public at the counter
- Performing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Issuing of warrants
- Maintaining ticklers
- Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Normal office duties
- Daily contact with distraught sometimes aggressive people
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate with two (2) years experience
- Ability to effectively relate to and work with the general public
- Ability to interpret what court function can best serve individuals seeking service
- Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy and tact in receiving callers, and walk in clients in giving and obtaining information, and in making proper disposition of problems
- Thorough knowledge of AOPC Clerical Procedure Manual in District Justice Courts or ability to learn same
- Ability to type 60 wpm with no less than a B accuracy
- Ability to effectively operate a typewriter, personal computer, word processor, data entry equipment, calculator, adding machine, office supplies, copy machines and other general office equipment
- Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic
- Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex and written instructions and compile clear concise routing reports with limited instructions
- Ability to perform other tasks or office functions as assigned
