WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Communicate with physicians to ensure accurate and complete documentation are in medical records.
Communicate with physicians, case managers, coders, and other healthcare team members to facilitate comprehensive medical record documentation ensuring they reflect clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses for inpatients.
Demonstrate an understanding of complications, co-morbidities, the severity of illness, the risk of mortality, case mix, secondary diagnosis, and the impact of procedures on the final DRG; possess the ability to impart this knowledge to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
Identify patterns, trends, variances, and opportunities to improve the documentation review and process.
Participate in departmental and hospital committees and assigned Task Force groups.
Provide or coordinate education to all internal customers related to compliance, coding, and clinical documentation issues.
Seek out educational resources to enhance clinical and coding knowledge, takes advantage of learning opportunities.
Position is Hybrid - training, approximately once a quarter for education/department meeting.
REQUIREMENTS
Required Bachelor's Degree
7 years Acute care Required.
2 years Recent inpatient, case management, or ED Required
Registered Nurse (RN) - .
Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) - .
