WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

  • Communicate with physicians to ensure accurate and complete documentation are in medical records.

  • Communicate with physicians, case managers, coders, and other healthcare team members to facilitate comprehensive medical record documentation ensuring they reflect clinical treatment, decisions, and diagnoses for inpatients.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of complications, co-morbidities, the severity of illness, the risk of mortality, case mix, secondary diagnosis, and the impact of procedures on the final DRG; possess the ability to impart this knowledge to physicians and other members of the healthcare team.

  • Identify patterns, trends, variances, and opportunities to improve the documentation review and process.

  • Participate in departmental and hospital committees and assigned Task Force groups.

  • Provide or coordinate education to all internal customers related to compliance, coding, and clinical documentation issues.

  • Seek out educational resources to enhance clinical and coding knowledge, takes advantage of learning opportunities.

Position is Hybrid - training, approximately once a quarter for education/department meeting.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Required Bachelor's Degree

  • 7 years Acute care Required.

  • 2 years Recent inpatient, case management, or ED Required

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - .

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) - .
