Great American RV SuperStores is looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join our stellar corporate team as a FTC Safeguard Rules Compliance Officer at its Madisonville, LA office. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude and will be committed to producing quality work.

About Great American RV SuperStores: Founded in 1984 in Hammond Louisiana, Great American RV SuperStores has grown into an industry leader in RV sales and service. An awardee of RV Business Top 50 Dealers award in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2022, Great American RV SuperStores has become the dealership of choice in each community it operates in. Great American RV currently enjoys operating eleven (11) retail RV dealerships in five (5) Gulf Coast states, with more to come!

What it’s Like to Work Here: Ask our employees and the one word they’d use to describe working at Great American RV SuperStores is “commitment.” Our team members believe in the Great American RV 10 Commitments: We will do the right thing, we will care, we will achieve, we will not fail, we will use our best judgement, we will be a gracious host, we will inspire, we will demand excellence, we will be held accountable for our actions, and we will challenge the system. While we are one of the best RV Dealers in the country, these commitments ensure that we keep improving, not just for our customers, but for our team members. If you’re looking for an opportunity to grow, gain an education and build a career at one of the nation’s leaders in one of the nation’s leading industries, we’re ready to welcome you to our team!

FTC Safeguard Rules Compliance Officer: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently updated its Safeguard Rules meant to protect confidential, personal customer information held by recreational vehicle dealers such as Great American RV. The FTC and CFPB consider our dealerships to qualify under their rules as “financial institutions” since we assist customers in obtaining loans or financing for the purchase of RVs through outside, third party lenders. The Compliance Officer we are seeking is for a newly created position within Great American RV, who will lead us in establishing programs and procedures to ensure we meet the FTC Safeguard Rules and to train and monitor employees, so the dealerships remain in compliance. The Compliance Officer will report directly to Great American RV’s Chief Legal Officer and Leadership. Great American RV will provide you with all the equipment you may need. We also provide you with paid time off, a 401K, health insurance, dental, and vision.

Job Responsibilities of a FTC Safeguard Rules Compliance Officer:

  • To understand and administer all state and federal regulations as they apply to the Great American RV dealerships to assure compliance with applicable rules, policies, and standards for protecting our confidential, personal customer information.
  • To define an Information Security Program (ISP) for Great American RV that ensures security and confidentiality of personal information we collect, protects against anticipated threats or hazards to the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of such information from unauthorized access.
  • To perform regular qualitative risk assessments for each dealership to identify internal and external risks, control measures needed, and to implement appropriate safeguards to mitigate violations of the ISP.
  • To work in tandem with Great American RV’s cybersecurity provider to secure customer information on the company’s network, staff devices and to monitor controls on our encrypted ISP.
  • To educate, train and monitor our Sales, Finance and Service teams to assure compliance with proper financial reporting to customers of regulated activities such as credit score disclosures and adverse action notices, to prevent “red flag” violations such as customer identity theft and unfair or deceptive trade practices, and to manage the Office of Foreign Assets (OFAC) and IRS Form 8300 reporting to federal authorities.
  • To assess and implement programs to manage ISP breach incidents, remedial corrective actions, and debriefing with Great American RV’s Leadership and state or federal authorities as required.
  • To manage a central reporting platform to assure compliance by Great American RV’s vendors and third-party businesses with access to confidential, personal customer information.
  • Other duties associated with FTC and CFPB regulations or as assigned by Leadership.

Qualifications to be a FTC Safeguard Rules Compliance Officer:

  • Collaborative mindset and team player attitude.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree from 4-year college preferred and/or specialized education and experience in Auditing or Compliance.
  • Must be willing to travel to and among the Great American RV dealerships.

Pay Rate: Starting at $50,000 to $70,000 annually depending on education and experience.
