Advisian is looking for a dynamic Consultant with outstanding credentials to join our Advisory team, supporting the broader ECR consulting practice.

We are seeking an individual with commercial, transaction services, strategy, or management consulting experience. The team is looking for a candidate who is passionate about the natural resource/energy industry, the energy transition and the circular economy, and who will have the endeavour and dedication to be part of a collective effort to provide the most optimal and creative solutions to maximise value for our clients.

The Consultant reports into the Principal Consultant, Advisory.

  • Key responsibilities

As a Consultant, you will support the team in providing bespoke consulting services and solutions to help our clients address their most critical business challenges and make better commercial decisions.

Your principal responsibility will be focused on delivery of energy consulting mandates. You will provide input into a range of consulting projects, through the operation of sophisticated internal models, developing new analysis and creating presentations and reports. You will maintain effective and timely communication with clients and present findings clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities include:

  • Analysis and deliverables creation:

  • Primary and secondary research and developing or applying analytical tools for each assignment to validate, analyse and critically assess sources of information to generate meaningful analysis, options and concepts to help answer the client’s question – the “so what” of the analysis.

  • Structure work in a logical way, prepare high quality written reports in MS Word / PowerPoint, using graphics that deliver messages concisely and effectively.

  • Take responsibility for work stream / work undertaken, ensuring Project Manager is briefed as to risks / alternative solutions.

  • Succinctly present summary of analysis to Project Manager or Project Director, developing story / solution for client questions.

  • Follow consulting procedures and methodologies

  • Practice and Business Development:

  • Support the business development activity led by senior members of the team as required through activities including clients' issues analysis, structuring elements of pitches and discussion documents and other analysis to facilitate and add value to the pitch team's discussion with the client.

  • Support the regional team in expanding the consulting practice.

  • Communication and approach:

  • Keep abreast of developments across the natural resource, energy and energy transition space, being able to effectively discuss recent events and implications with clients.

  • Collaborate closely with project team members, consultants from other projects / regions / sectors, research and sales teams, etc.

  • Offer solutions to problems and challenge the status quo.

  • Requirements

  • Experience (4+ years) at a consulting firm, natural resources company, services company, bank, or other such analytical role at a renowned company.

  • Advanced degree and excellent academic record (BCom/BSc/MSc/MBA/PhD/CA/CFA) or equivalent in relevant discipline with an analytical focus.

  • An understanding of energy industry dynamics, commercial operations, business models and strategies.

  • A curious and self-motivated problem-solving approach, an analytical mind-set, strong Excel skills and ability to apply knowledge of the energy industry to a broad range of consulting projects and client situations.

  • Strong (oral/written) communication skills (Word and PowerPoint).

  • The ability to multitask, be deadline-driven and organized under tight deadlines

  • An optimistic attitude, resilient nature and a collaborative team player with good influencing and interpersonal skills

  • A results-oriented track record

  • Experience and interest in one or more of the following areas:

  • Energy, Power, Chemicals, Fuels, Gas, Metals, Renewables and New Energy industries

  • Valuation and Financial Modelling Experience

  • Commercial and/or Technical due diligence

  • Corporate Strategy and C-Suite Advisory

  • Market entry strategy
