DPW LABORER

Salary: $16.95 - $19.66 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday (40 Hrs/Week)

DESCRIPTION:

Great opportunity for an entry-level position in the Easthampton Department of Public Works. Opportunity for growth and development within the City with positions available in multiple DPW departments such as Highway, Sewer, Wastewater, and Water.

The position includes manual work assisting in the maintenance of streets, sidewalks, water, and sewer lines in the city; along with other DPW projects and tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Mows roadside grass; trims and cuts brush; applies loam and seed.
• Works with blacktop crew making roadway repairs, plows roads and sidewalks using light trucks, snow blowers, or shovels.
• Perform manual labor work erecting signs, welding, line painting, paving, ditch repairs, pothole patching, guard rail repairs, and installation and cutting brush along roadways.
• Unloads material, equipment, and supplies
• Assists and performs small construction, plumbing, and painting projects.
• Assists with repairs for sewer backups, and maintenance on all sewer lines, manholes, catch basins, and laterals to residences.
• Assists with installation, maintenance, and services for the water system, lays water pipe, assists with preparation of bed trench
• Perform similar or related work as required or as the situation dictates.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent; and a valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicles Operators License required.
