HR Generalist
This role is designed to provide a mid-level HR professional the opportunity to rapidly integrate into the Human Resources department and assume a support role through hands on involvement and influence. The expectation for this role is to integrate into the functional HR and operational activities and within a reasonable period assume a support role. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is able to quickly transfer existing know-how and experience into the functional activities and quickly develop into a resource for the HR department. A functional understanding of American Greetings and plant operations will be paramount to success in this role. From that, building networks inside the plant, the local community and the company will be essential to longer-term success. This role is designed to provide a platform for the successful candidate to be a bona fide successor for a Senior HR Generalist role.
The successful candidate will have a continuous improvement mindset coupled with a bias for action and the ability to anticipate issues and solve them. The ability to influence, motivate and develop people and teams will be fundamental to success. Being proactive and responsive will enable this person to achieve the goals and objectives developed for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support and assist in the development of HR strategies and function as the primary driver of tactical implementation.
- Assist and support continuous improvement ideas to the following functional areas of the HR department:
- Employment and staffing processes and systems.
- Current legacy systems and SAP to optimize utilization.
- Complete employment cycle including recruiting, staffing, development and training.
- American Greetings’ and plant policies and procedures.
- Collective bargaining agreements, their application and internal and external union relationships.
- Coordinating and implementing Federal, State and Local employment laws and regulations.
- Safety procedures and protocols.
- The identification of related metrics to ensure meeting targets and sustainable change.
- Willingness to learn and be mentored in the labor relations functions and collective bargaining agreement administration, understanding relationships and plant culture if within a union facility.
- Partnering with line management in problem-solving, productive investigations and making sound, defendable recommendations to management.

- Provide coverage for the HR Manager when she/he is not available. This activity will increase over time eventually reaching 10% plus.
- Other duties and responsibilities as designated by the HR Manager.
Experience Required:
- Minimum 2 to 4 years’ experience in a leadership role in a fast paced manufacturing HR environment.
- Operations, Distribution and /or other functional experience preferred.
Education Required:
Required Education:
- BS degree in Human Resources or related field of study.
- Credentialing such as PHR / SPHR preferred.
