Infusion Registered Nurse (BSN/RN) - Float

Suffolk County, NY

Oncology nurse’s main duty is to supervise and provide nursing care to cancer patients. They monitor patient’s condition, develop care plans, develop symptom management protocols and administer medication.

Work hand-in-hand with Physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure the greatest quality of care for the patient.

In this role you will:

  • Float as needed between Valley Stream/Bethpage.
  • Create individualized care plans on patient under their supervision and care.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Administer of chemotherapy, and non-chemotherapy agents intravenously and/or by injection as prescribed.
  • Prepare sterile medications while adhering to NIOSH standards for "safe handling" of cytotoxic agents.
  • Provide patient education throughout the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Maintain awareness of the comfort and safety needs of the patient.
  • Advocate for patients and their caregivers as indicated by patient conditions and responses.
  • Provide care that demonstrates sensitivity to client diversity and incorporates appropriate cultural practices.
  • Participate in preparing infusion suites for operation including but not limited to: completion of daily responsibilities, side work, as assigned by Head Nurse or covering Head Nurse/Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with inventory and pharmacy to ensure supplies including medication inventory are stocked and available for scheduled patient care.


We require:

  • A valid RN License in the State of New York.
  • At least 1 year of experience in oncology outpatient and at least 1 year of experience in administering medications.
  • Consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Attendance to all mandatory nursing meetings.
  • Completion of the following Oncology Nursing Society [ONS] certification (Supported by NYCBS voucher program)
  • Safe Handling Basics - Completion within 2 weeks of hire date
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course - Completion within 9 months of hire date


Salary up to $51 per hour
