Purpose of Role
The Junior Solution Architect works under the direct supervision of Lead Solution Architect with the goal of
eventually moving up to that position with experience.
The Junior Solution Architect will help plan, design the overall application and mapping the business
requirements to systems / technical requirements to deliver the complete solution for the Business User.
This role requires an in-depth understanding of the PNB’s businesses, operating model, and business
challenges, together with the technology available for creating a fully integrated and successful business
solution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage the work of designing, transforming, modifying, and evaluating different systems to ensure

compatibility and users’ efficiency and effectiveness and turns user requirements into a set of
functional specifications, which are the blueprint of the system with the aim to facilitate PNB / ASNB
core application business to function effectively and efficiently.

• Analyzed, manage, and respond to change requests, service request and business requirement

document to make sure of continuously improved systems and business suitability.

• Structuring and prioritizing business requirements and communicating plans with stakeholders for review

and approval.

• Develop and manage System Design Document as the project deliverables to ensure the solution is

efficient, cost-effective, and financially feasible and meet the business objectives, goals, requirement
specifications and in accordance with the defined timeline. Developing specifications diagrams and
flowcharts for programmers to follow.

• Collaborates with business users, developers, testers, and vendors. Coordinate with project team

members to implement design and work through design revisions.

• Administer PNB / ASNB core application systems and their subsystems enhancement and modification,

by taking necessary actions to address user requirements and ultimately PNB's and ASNB business
goals.

• Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and

compatibility with current systems.

• Provide a software development plan that meets the future needs of PNB’s businesses, based on the

state-of-the-art technologies.

• Evolve the existing system applications and architecture in various areas as needed.
• Overseeing implementation, coordinating tests, and observing initiation of the system to validate

performance including data migration.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management

Information Systems or related field.

• Certified IT Architect or have attended IT Architecture training is a value added.

Minimum 5 years of working experience in the Financial Sector, preferably in investment and unit trust. Minimum 8 years of experience working through the standard Software Development Life Cycle in
delivering business solutions.

• Proven ability to develop solution architecture and system design; strong analytical thinking and

problem-solving skills; possess the ability to perform quick assessment of a situation, understanding it as
fully as possible, and making recommendation about possible solutions to a problem.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse

group of users and IT team.

• Ability to communicate highly complex technical information clearly and articulately at all relevant

levels in the organization.

• Excellent command of language in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Good influencer and negotiator.
• Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
• Strong knowledge in web application development and familiarity with SQL databases.
• Good understanding of current application development standards, methodologies and issues.
• Knowledge in Relational Database – Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, etc.,
• Proficient in VB.net, C# or Java
• Proficient in HTML, CSS, Active Server, Pages and JavaScript
• Reporting tools (e.g.: SAP business object -Crystal Report, Jasper, Tibco)
• Proficient in Microsoft Visio, Archimate / Orbus and UML
• Web based technologies
