POSITION: K-12 Art Teacher

LOCATION: St. Patrick’s School

Portland Public Schools’ seeks an innovative and passionate education professional to join our team as a shared time teacher at St. Patrick’s School. The desired candidate will continue the forward progress and change the district has undergone in recent years by enhancing the educational experience for our students.

The desired candidate would possess the following attributes:

  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching and learning practices
  • Exceptional communication, analysis, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of, or demonstrated training in, PBIS and MTSS initiatives
  • Ability to handle complex and stressful issues or situations with sound judgment, common sense, and a calm demeanor
  • Impeccable character, a good sense of humor, and compassion for students, families, and staff
  • Willingness to undertake extracurricular assignments
  • Exceptional ability to build positive relationships with students

Eligible candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with LX, LQ, or LZ endorsement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and district colleagues
  • Demonstrated ability to sustain and improve student achievement outcomes
  • Willingness to contribute to a safe school climate of high expectations and strong collaboration, high staff and student morale, and positive community involvement

Position Details:

  • Title: Art Teacher – Will be full time at St. Pats School in Portland, MI
  • Reports to: Portland Middle School Principal
  • Calendar: As per District Calendar and PEA contract
  • Compensation: In accordance with PEA contract
  • Posting date: May 5, 2023
