Salary Information
Salary is dependent on qualifications with a minimum of $33,660.00.

As the most-used service on campus and an essential component of education and research at the University of North Texas, the Libraries offer access to more than 6 million items (print and digital) along with expert personnel to assist patrons in achieving their academic and scholarly goals. The Access Services Department promotes and provides access to the collections of the UNT Libraries. As part of the Public Services Division, we strive to meet the information and research needs of library patrons through the services we offer.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview
This position oversees and manages the operations of the ILL Lending, Document Delivery, and Distance Learning services, which requires expertise in the area of lending and document delivery policies. This position is responsible for lending UNT Library owned materials to other non-UNT libraries. The Document Delivery and Distance Learning services focus on providing access to UNT Library owned materials to UNT students, faculty, and staff. This position generates invoices for borrowing libraries. This position is responsible for creating and adjusting workflows and manuals for Lending, Document Delivery, and Distance Learning. This position is responsible for training student assistants. This person also provides Reference and Circulation assistance at the Willis Library service desk, by phone, and by email. This position provides guidance in the area of ILL Lending, Document Delivery, and Distance Learning to full-time staff.

Bachelor’s Degree and one year of progressively responsible library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of library principles and policies, and knowledge of specialized area functions and workflows.
  • Experience in working effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to utilize multiple computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures and security measures related to work performed.


Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience using Sierra, ILLiad, Adobe and Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of library call number systems and online catalogs.
  • Project management experience.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Six months experience working in public services in a library setting.
  • Interlibrary loan working experience.

Job Duties

o
Manage ILL Lending, Document Delivery, and Distance Learning services, set goals and priorities. Create, evaluate, and adjust workflows as needed and oversee processes. Ensure that relevant manuals are up to date. Understand and comply with policies regarding copyright, national/international interlibrary loan, and shipping. Maintain knowledge of ILL and Access Services policies and procedures. Provide training and guidance to other staff members when needed.

o
Process lending requests in a timely manner using the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Management system. Ensure that requested materials are located and checked out, scanned, printed out, or photocopied and shipped or electronically delivered via appropriate method. Ensure that electronic journal articles are processed in accordance with licensing agreements.

o
Process Document Delivery and Distance Learning Requests efficiently using the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan Management system. Ensure print and electronic requests are filled accurately and promptly. Coordinate with other library locations for fulfillment as needed.

o
Examine and respond to renewal requests, conditional responses, and special messages. Solve complex issues involving Document Delivery requests or route applicable Document Delivery requests back to Borrowing when they cannot be filled through UNT Libraries.

o
With the help of student assistants, process physical distance learning items and document delivery scans. Assure that UNT items are correctly checked out to distance learning patrons via Sierra and proper documentation is included with mailing package. Ensure that patron addresses are verified prior to mailing and that patrons are notified when an item is mailed. Ensure that article requests requiring electronic delivery are properly processed.

With the help if student assistants, ensure that outgoing lending materials are shipped via appropriate method and article requests requiring electronic delivery are properly processed. Ensure returned lending materials are properly checked in and routed to correct locations.

o
Monitor ILLiad overdue notices; send invoices for unreturned materials and routine lending charges. Process and deposit payments received for lending charges. Record information about lending charges and payments in ILLiad.

o
Respond to inquiries via email, phone, or in-person. Monitor Lending and department emails, resolve issues, and respond to questions in a timely manner. Interact with UNT patrons, UNT Libraries staff, and personnel from other institutions in a friendly, cooperative, and helpful manner.

o
Train students and staff on lending, document delivery, distance learning and in use of ILLiad and scanning equipment. Cross-train other unit students.

o
Provide coverage in the Access Services workroom and at the Library Services Desk as scheduled. Respond to patron inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email. Input transactions in Ref Analytics.
