LIBRARY TECHNICIAN II

THIS POSITION IS ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT AT STEP 1, $41,620.80
. COUNTY EMPLOYEES ARE SUBJECT TO THE COUNTY PROMOTION RULE FOR STEP PLACEMENT.
Employees in this job classification assigned to a Rural Library location may be eligible for a 5% premium. An Employee’s Principal Work Location must be one of the following to be eligible: Alpine, Borrego Springs, Campo, Crest, Descanso, Fallbrook, Fletcher Hills, Jacumba, Julian, Lincoln Acres, Pine Valley, Potrero, Ramona, or Valley Center.

The ideal candidate will provide courteous, high-quality service to members of the public by personally responding to requests or making appropriate referral.
HIRING TIMELINE & DATES:
  • Job Offer and Background Process begins in June 2023. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years full-time library work experience at the level of a Library Technician I (Click here for a complete job description, examples of duties, essential functions, for Library Technician I classification), or equivalent experience involving knowledge of general library practices or operations. Supervisory coursework/experience is highly desirable.

Note: A Library Technology certificate or an associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in Library Science is desirable .

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

EVALUATION:
The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information provided on the employment and supplemental applications.
