Job Responsibilities

  • To conduct training needs of the university and propose relevant training & development programmes for the university to adopt.
  • Design and development of structured training and development programmes for staff at all levels.
  • Sourcing and recommending of training providers. This includes evaluation of training instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct and arrange for ongoing training and personal development programmes for staff members.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected faculty and non-academic headcount, organizational goals, changes, and other factors.
  • Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials during training
  • Plan, develop, source and review soft skills training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops to ensure the Return Of Investment (ROI) are justifiable.
  • Analyze the Individual Development Plan (IDP) to identify the training needs of each individual employee in meeting the technical and behavioral competency gaps for their professional and personal development.
  • Review and evaluate training and programs for compliance with MOHE, MQA, ISO and Internal Quality standards and requirements.
  • Manage training workshops/programmes, train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees in enhancing soft skills competencies.
  • Prepare training budget, monitor utilization and ensure budget well spent for department or organization.
  • Administer and monitor the HRDF to ensure the company is in compliance of the regulatory needs.
  • Monitor HRDF funds and propose efficient utilization.
  • To process training applications from the faculty and non-academic staff for internal/external training including regional/international conferences.
  • To administer and process training claims incurred by staff.
  • To spearhead the process of annual KPI objective setting for the university and train HODs to execute effectively.
  • To review and consolidate all job descriptions to identify and analyse competency gaps.
  • To review Performance Management Review process and forms in line with the needs of the IMU and train staff on the performance appraisal process.
  • To execute Talent Management process in the IMU.
  • Consolidate and submit monthly management reports to the HR Head.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of training and development experience of which 3 years in managerial capacity.
  • Preferably a Masters degree in a related field required (Minimum a general degree in related field).
  • Well-versed and hands-on in training and development methodologies, training needs analysis, performance management, and talent management.
  • Competent trainer that can conduct soft skills training for staff at all levels.
  • Strategic and high influencing skills to educate and develop individual staff.
  • Use of technology in higher education and training.
  • A commitment to affirmative action principles. Able to act decisively and make wise decisions.
  • Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication, interpersonal skills and good judgment.
  • Ability to strategize, formulate and articulate sound training policies and demonstrated ability to identify, resolve, and consult on a wide range of administrative and personnel issues with a clear sense of institutional needs and priorities.
  • Strong organisational and management skills.
