Spring Glen Fresh Foods in Ephrata, PA is now seeking 1st shift Material Handler / Relief Driver. Responsible for the efficient and timely receiving, shipping, storing, transferring and inventory control of all goods and products in the Spring Glen Plant and Warehouse. Deliver products to customers as needed. Provide a sales rep type relationship with customers.

• Operate forklift transferring loaded pallets to, from, and within storage areas, slot areas, production lines, and trucks in a safe manner.
• Check merchandise/products prior to shipping or receiving to ensure accuracy of items, quantity, and condition.
• Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and ensure that same is conducted in a manner that prevents damage of goods.
• Ensure that goods received in damaged form are reported.
• Check and maintain daily pre and post trip of all vehicles and equipment operated.
• Rotate stock to ensure ingredient usage prior to expiration date on a first in/first out basis.
• Pick customer orders using RF scanners.
• Station material required for next day’s production, as directed by the Logistics Manager.
• Assist in maintaining inventory control and report substandard level of products to the Warehouse Leadperson.
• Ensure accurate figures are provided for the monthly inventory and year-end audits.
• Represent the Company in a positive manner when interacting with external personnel.
• Position requires the physical ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Report any mechanical or safety problems to the Supply Chain Manager.
• Ensure work area is kept clean in accordance with good housekeeping practices.
• Adhere to common safety practices and rules including the wearing of protective equipment as required.
• Adhere to Spring Glen’s plant hygiene regulations to ensure high product integrity.
• Responsible for following food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as but not limited to: GMP’s, HACCP, safety, product quality, food security, plant security, etc.
• Deliver to and/or pick up product as directed.
• Make pick-ups for raw materials.
• Check all freight for accuracy and document at every step.
• Report condition of vehicle driven on proper forms.
• Report proper mileage driven daily.

While the duties above generally describe the job content, not all duties are performed continually or regularly (i.e., daily, weekly, etc.). Duties performed are dependent upon the operation being supported.

The position requires the following:

• Valid driver's license
• Experience driving a truck for deliveries: small truck or with Class B license
• Physical ability to perform heavy physical labor
• Ability to pay attention to detail
• Pallet and forklift experience necessary
• Training and or experiences related to the job

The position requires ability to read, write and understand the English language, and have basic math skills in order to satisfactorily complete job requirements.
