Job Description
Minnesota North College – Itasca Campus is seeking an unlimited, part-time (.80 FTE) Nursing, Practical Instructor who is committed to excellence in teaching and learning; using active and experiential learning strategies; creating a student-centered environment; teaching students from a wide variety of backgrounds; and working collaboratively with colleagues to create a successful student learning environment.

Nurse educators prepare students for their future role as professional caregivers.
Teaching courses include (but not limited to) Pharmacology I & II, Clinical I & II, Nursing Skills I & II, Integrated Practicum, Psychosocial Aspects of Nursing, Pharmacology, and Simulation Lab.

Required Qualifications
Education Requirement
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.


Occupational Experience Requirement
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.

Recency Requirement
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement
  • Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.

Teaching and Learning Competency Requirement
  • All new faculty must complete the teaching and learning requirement during their probation period.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with a major in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing, or a nursing clinical specialty or related.
  • Teaching experience with a diverse learner population.
  • A commitment to cultural diversity, inclusive teaching, and student success.

Instructors work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits.
