Job description
The successful candidate will lead a team of finance managers located in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the finance shared service centre in Malaysia. He/she will oversee the day-to-day accounting activities, month end closing, statutory compliance (corporate, audit and tax), cashflow activities as well as drive improvements and efficiencies in the finance processes. The FC will also manage the external relationships with external auditors and tax professionals across the group.
This is a visible role in the organization, where he/she will be actively involved in the set-up of several initiatives as well as change management of others which are driving operational efficiency and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
(1) Finance Management and Administration
- Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the countries’ finance teams, including constant review and improvement of the day-to-day accounting and month end closing processes
- Review internal controls and establishing best practices to drive operational efficiency and business performance
- Establish relationships with local banking service providers and maintain adequate controls over access to cash
- Continue development and maintain integrity of Accounting system (NetSuite)
- In conjunction with System Administrator, coordinate and implement upgrades to NetSuite, providing necessary information / training to direct reports
- Ensure that business cash flow adequately supports entities’ operations
- Ensure all entities’ assets are monitored and accurately accounted for
- Maintain/monitor effectiveness of Finance SSC processes and controls. Drive process improvements in line with organization strategies
- Further build, execute and maintain policies for financial controllership
(2) Regulation & Statutory Compliance
- Establish strong working relationships with local countries’ external Audit & Tax teams to ensure optimal/efficient service is provided
- Ensure compliance with statutory and audit requirements
- Ensure all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times
- Ensure requisite information is supplied for the preparation of all entities’ tax returns and such returns are reviewed by you and filed by external tax professionals
- Ensure all indirect tax requirements/compliance is maintained, i.e. GST/VAT where applicable to each countries
- Ensure all audits are completed in a timely manner and all related Corporate Regulatory filings are made by their due dates
(3) People Management
- Make self-available as coach/mentor in assisting direct reports to develop in their positions
- Ensure that relevant information is communicated to direct reports enabling them to effectively carry out their functions
- Delegate tasks to direct reports in line with skill, knowledge and ability and where necessary identify skill gaps and training requirements
- As required, become involved in relevant personnel matters including recruitment, termination and counselling
- Complete KPI assessment of direct reports within Company specified time frame
- Ensure all reasonable steps are taken in order to achieve workplace harmony within the organization at all times
Requirements
- Degree qualified ACCA/CPA/CA with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
- Experience in Big 4 accounting firm and multi-national companies is preferred
- Experience managing Finance teams comprised of multiple cultures
- Ability to influence and partner with key stakeholders
- Ability to adapt and comfortable with dealing with ambiguity
- Problem solving abilities, attention to detail, strong work ethic
- Proven track record of change management or ability to influence the business and drive changes
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and be a good team player
