The Position:
Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer:
- Support the RCO in all aspects of the execution, implementation and ongoing maintenance of all areas of Compliance and Risk fields, including Anti-Corruption, Anti-Money Laundering, Sanctions, Privacy, Fraud Risk, and Consumer Protection in The Americas for GBT, and GBT’s Travel Partners.
- Be engaged in the ongoing continual improvement of a 360 Global Compliance Program including all programmatic aspects, and responsible for supporting the execution of those programs in The Americas in an exciting and fast-paced environment.
- Assist RCO in the ongoing implementation and management of GBT Commercial Compliance to ensure Compliance by Design principles are fully embedded within the New Product Approval process.
- Support the RCO in partnering closely with business leaders in a customer-facing role to address customer questions and concerns related to Compliance and Regulatory Affairs. This individual will serve as the frontline support for the Americas Commercial and Supplier teams to support and coordinate Compliance related issues with key internal and external partners.
- Support the RCO in providing compliance and regulatory guidance to the business (sales, client management, procurement) in the operation of products, customer interactions, processes and controls so as to align with all applicable laws (local laws as appropriate), policies and regulations and serve as a key business enabler.
- Assist RCO in the implementation and management of GBT Brand Marketing Reviews in connection with customer facing materials, targeted marketing programs and client directed advertising consistent with the Unfair, Deceptive, Abusive Acts or Practices ACT, (UDAAP) and Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
- Assist the RCO in the creation and management of Third Party Oversight programs, including on-boarding, training, monitoring and supervision of third parties.
- Assist RCO in the implementation and management of business-specific compliance and risk policies, procedures, reporting, training and communications programs that will be in alignment with Company-wide policies and programs and appropriate for the GBT business activities and inherent compliance risks, and consistent with the Bank Holding Company regulations to which American Express is subject.
- Support the Operational Risk Program, including risk assessments, compliance testing, monitoring, documentation of risk events, remediation plans and tracking against all Compliance goals in the Americas.
The Candidate:
The successful candidate will be a proven leader in area of compliance, with the following qualifications:
- 5+ years of generalist compliance or regulatory experience, in leading new and existing programs, with experience in operationalizing such programs to be scaled to the size, complexity, and risk profile of the business.
- BA required, JD preferred.
- Understanding and application of FCPA, OFAC/Sanctions regulations, Privacy based principles, UDAAP and TCPA.
- Consistent record to understand regulatory concepts and convert them into relevant, practical, local business requirements.
- Proven ability to learn and implement business processes and balance business/market opportunities with regulatory and reputation risk. Solid knowledge and experience relevant to the travel business preferable. .
- Strong communications skills, with proven ability to build strong collaborative relationships with business partners as well as customers and counterparties’ Compliance departments.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix structure that spans multiple functions, markets and legal entities.
- Spanish-speaking capabilities strongly preferred.
- Ability to get results, solutions oriented, through a strong sense of controls in changing and ambiguous situations.
- Excellent advisory, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to lead by example, demonstrating strong ethical standards, and effectively influence colleagues in all professional interactions.
- Eastern or Central time zone preferred

Location
The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $140,000. The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
