As the Global Hair Care R&D Technical Service Formulation Scientist, you will deliver gorgeous hair by working and developing new and innovative hair care products and formulations to deliver unique, salon-style luxury performance to our customers.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Execute hair care projects assigned by global applications manager
- Provide technical support to sales and marketing functions through application development efforts and customer-directed research programs
- Serve as lead formulation chemist and primary technical lead for North America customers driven tactical projects
- Able to anticipate, determine and understand customer unmet needs, competitive products, market trends, and apply Lubrizol product technologies to satisfy those requirements
- Work closely with the technical team to develop prototype formulations to support global product launches and North America regional market initiatives
- Engage with key technical customer contacts to provide troubleshooting and formulating services and to identify new growth opportunities. Communicate these opportunities back to the global technical and marketing team
- Train North America customers/distributors on current market concepts
- Support North America sales by attending value-driven market/project specific customer meetings
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to a variety of audiences. Provide written monthly reports and regularly communicate project and timeline to the management team
- Manage concurrent multiple development projects
- Up to 20% domestic travel to visit customers
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor/Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field from an accredited college/university
- 7+ years of hair care product formulations development and customer technical service, testing experience including styling, shampoo, conditioner, treatment, masque, etc.
- Ability to travel up to 20% as needed to support existing customer products, and commercialization of new products
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving skills, and ability to interpret and translate experimental results into customer needs
- Must have strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Must be able to develop and deliver effective technical presentations internally and at customer locations and conferences
- Self-starter, highly motivated toward achievements, result-oriented
- Ability to plan and organize multiple assignments with minimal supervision, work well individually and in team settings
- Solid record keeping skills
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office
