Overview

As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you will be the leader of a small Controls Design team that designs custom automation for Celestica’s global requirements, including stand-alone cells and large robotic assembly lines. As a leader you bring experience in machinery design concepts, safety and global standards. With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to build world-class equipment.


In this role, you will report to the Standard Design Leader.


Technical

  • Design, develop and support robotic system for automation station and assembly lines.

  • Analysis of inputs and User Requirements ,in order to determine function of Robot to be documented into Project Specification.

  • Responsible for Robot system hardware and software set up for PLC and PC base system.

  • Responsible to build, configure and test Robotic system.

  • Hands on capability to install, calibration , integrate Robotic system .Support onsite technical issues.

  • Work with all discipline engineers to propose robotic solution base on Project specification to customer.

  • Ensure a safe work environment for one’s self and others when commissioning machines

  • Knowledge of fieldbuses including EtherCat

  • Ability to troubleshoot robotic issues and provide solutions during design review session

  • Liaise with SW, Electrical/Mechanical engineer in the completion of equipment and resolving problems

  • Prior experience with safety systems and software

  • Understanding of complex machines with multiple software platforms and the ability to integrate hardware such as screw guns, dispense systems, laser marking systems


Project Execution


  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Assist in preparing customer documentation
  • Provide technical information for engineering test and validation plan , operation manuals , SAT, FAT

  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and or travel as required in varying timelines
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met

Travel



• Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 15% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs


Qualifications


Education


  • Has successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical or Computer Engineering / Robotics Automation Technology


Experience


  • minimum 5 years in automation design at a machine integrator

  • Previous supervision of small team


Language


  • Fluent in English

  • Other languages will be an advantage
