Position Title: Speech and Language Pathologist, 3 positions available
Classification: Certificated Position, Representation available by Wahluke Education Association
Reports to: Special Education Director

Assignment: Full Time, 1.0 FTE; Additional work days offered; District-wide; Preschool-12th grade. SLPs have integral roles in education and are essential members of school faculties. Conduct speech, language, and hearing in accordance with guidelines. Provide a program to meet individual needs of children. Provide thorough assessments and diagnoses of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments. Provide direct intervention to students to remedy communication deficits. Demonstrate competency intervention and remedial techniques. Evaluate in terms of planned goals and revise intervention strategies as a result of the evaluation. Interact positively with students, professional associates, and patrons of the school district. Maintain audit files. Demonstrate punctuality when meeting with students, rendering accurate reports, and performing assigned duties. Establish a case load and manage schedules. Maintain, complete, and submit Medicaid paperwork in a timely manner.Responsible for meeting federal and state mandates as well as local policies in performance of duties. Activities may include Individualized Education Program (IEP) development, Medicaid billing, report writing, and treatment plan/therapy log development. Make contributions to ensure that all students receive quality, culturally competent services. Address students personal, social/emotional, academic, and vocational needs that have an impact on attainment of educational goals.

There are six schools within the District; Mattawa Elementary serves grades Prek-5, Saddle Mountain Elementary K-5, Morris Schott Elementary School serves K-5, Wahluke Junior High School serves students in grades 6-8, Wahluke High School serves grades 9-12, and Sentinel Tech Alternative School serves 9-12. The District employs 149 certified staff members and 126 classified employees. The school campus includes 100 acres located close to the Columbia River and backed by the Saddle Mountains.
