Position Title: Summer Academic Recovery Program Student Worker
Department: Office of Federal Programs
Reports To: Summer Academic Recovery Program Site Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision, provides general assistance to assigned teacher for the Summer Academic Recovery Program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operates standard school equipment such as laminator, copier and audiovisual, etc.
- Under the supervision of an adult, escorts students to and from various rooms.
- Under the supervision of an adult, exhibits the ability to work with students requiring individual or close attention, reads to children, listens to their reactions, and suggests improvements.
- Under the supervision of an adult, effectively monitors groups of students engaged in drawing, writing, independent study or similar work.
- Under the supervision of an adult, demonstrates the ability to observe and assist individual students that are experiencing difficulties.
- Under the supervision of an adult, effectively supervises playground activities, monitors students in the cafeteria, during rest periods, coming on and off buses, or as they go to and from classes.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform other classroom or school-wide clerical tasks; prepares, compiles, and makes copies of instructional materials and reports, files classroom or student records, distributes textbooks and other instructional materials appropriately.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks such as distributing materials, ordering supplies, escorting students to other areas of the school, etc.
- Under the supervision of an adult, oversees monitor duties such as hallways, lunchroom, restrooms and bus duty; ensures appropriate student conduct during these periods; escorts students to designated activity areas such as music room, computer room, art class, assemblies, etc.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Summer Academic Recovery Program Site Coordinator or teacher.

LANGUAGE SKILS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.
REASONING ABILITIES:
Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.

Physical demands consist of frequently standing, talking or listening, walking or sitting for a period of time. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds; such as lifting to a changing table, pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Duties are performed indoors as well as outdoors.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be a current student at an Aiken County Public School District High School or a 2023 graduate
June 10th (orientation, summer site preparation, and move-in day)
June 12th- June 30th
7:30 am-3:00 pm
Monday-Friday
$7.25 per hour
EVALUATION:
Evaluation will be ongoing throughout the program, and will be based upon the employee’s performance in carrying out the duties described in the job description.
