General Summary:

The Business Development Executive’s position is to create new customers and opportunities for the organization. The goal of the Business Development Executive is to improve the organization’s market position within the VAR/ERATE Vertical, drive sustainable financial growth through building key relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and maintain extensive knowledge of the vertical and market. You must have the dedication to create and expand relationships to create opportunities and engage the sales team to then close those opportunities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement growth strategy focused on both financial gain and customer satisfaction. This will be done in conjunction with leadership team.
  • Grow a revenue stream through systematically cultivating new strategic relationships and accounts within the ERATE and VAR vertical in Alabama.
  • Provide qualified leads, prospects, and opportunities to Synergetics Sales Account Executives in the ERATE/VAR vertical and/or market.
  • Enter new opportunities into NetSuite and engage Sales team to be responsible for opportunity (discovery, solution development and closing opportunity)
  • Retain and expand existing relationships through education and advocacy on pertinent offerings.
  • Participate in the development and review of a regular SWOT analysis of the organization as it pertains to the ERATE, and VAR vertical represented.
  • Cold call as appropriate within the ERATE and VAR vertical to schools and businesses to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities are created. Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
  • Plan approaches and messaging. Work with team on proposals that speaks to the client’s needs/wants, concerns, and objectives.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market, key initiative, and ERATE/VAR trends.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, assist in identifying and developing the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Submit weekly progress goals on activity to exceed assigned key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within NetSuite.
  • You will need to work within a defined budget. Any changes or modifications must be approved.
  • Work with sales and marketing to benchmark the competition and keep the organization ahead of it. Conduct the necessary market analysis needed to identify the organization’s current position and an analysis of what competitive advantage our organization has over competition in the sector. The Business Development Executive must be able to collect the data they need to prepare an accurate analysis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understands sales strategies, marketing strategies, market research, niche marketing, product marketing and business intelligence.
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CRM, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Provide detailed correspondence with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work individually, without constant supervision, and in team environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignment.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand.

Educations and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, educational technology, marketing, sales, or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in sales, marketing, and business management with knowledge of sales process from initiation to close, required.
  • Experience as business developer or related positions, preferred.
