The Chief Procurement Officer RoleThe Chief Procurement Officer will lead a global team responsible for developing and executing strategies for sourcing, source-to-pay, third-party risk management and compliance.
The role will be responsible for the following specific areas, including, but not limited to:
Leading a global, client-focused procurement organization that fully leverages and assertively sources our third-party spending;
Comprehensive management of third-party spend while delivering world-class metrics;
Delivering innovation in and strengthening of methods, tools and processes;
Streamlining and optimizing methods and processes to ensure that procurement occurs in an efficient manner, while ensuring other factors, such as cost and risk, are addressed;
Analyzing industry trends and evolving technology to proactively identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities; and
Understanding market conditions for key goods and services. – e.g., IT and IT Services hardware, software, telecom and contract labor.
We expect the successful candidate will be a seasoned executive, with a proven track record of leading a procurement function for a large, global, publicly traded company, in a technology-enabled business platform of high growth and large scale with sound financials. The successful candidate will embody a collective of executive gravitas, comportment, skills and career experiences required for collaborating with and making recommendations to our Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and General Counsel, CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
The Chief Procurement Officer will report directly to Cognizant’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer & General Counsel.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Procurement Officer will be chartered with responsibilities including, but not limited to:
Directing and developing a team of procurement professionals in both direct and global matrixed teams to achieve the overall goals of the organization on a flexible, scalable basis;
Anticipating future procurement needs and having strategies in place to meet needs of rapidly scaling teams;
Developing global procurement governance model clarifying global, regional and local roles and responsibilities;
Developing and consistently delivering an effective and clear communications program regarding procurement programs/processes to global and specific employee audiences on an ongoing, proactive basis;
Providing senior leadership with regular analysis and recommendations of improvements to available programs aimed at optimization of return on investment for Cognizant, including conducting regular external benchmarking analysis and comparisons of procurement programs; and
Building alliances and fostering relationships across Cognizant’s senior leadership team, providing advice and counsel to senior business leaders on policy and guideline interpretation, etc.

Location & Travel Requirement
United States; Northeastern area is preferable but not required; a remote location with travel for the preferred candidate may be possible
Travel as needed, likely including regular trips to India when practical.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $237,500 - $362,830; depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
