BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to deliver and collect supplies; receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within warehouse.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives DOT-regulated trucks to pick up and deliver food, supplies and inner-office mail to and from various Salvation Army facilities.
Keeps mileage records.
Loads and unloads trucks.
Keeps vehicles clean inside and outside.
Inspects vehicle daily and reports necessary repairs to Manager.
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
Reads work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Sorts and places materials or items within warehouse on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Keeps warehouse clean, neat, and organized.
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to appropriate departments.
Assembles emergency food boxes from stock and places conveys to Family Services Department.
Marks materials with identifying information.
Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
Provides appropriate support to all Christmas activities.
Secures building when left unattended.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a DOT-regulated Salvation Army vehicle.
Must be 21 years or older.
Must pass annual Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
Will be required to pass a Drivers Qualification File (DQF).
Will be required to pass a behind the wheel road test.
Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
Ability to process written, visual and/or verbal information.
Ability to operate various types of warehouse equipment including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks and hand-trucks.
Possess or obtain forklift certification within three months of hire.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Knowledge of and ability to perform all warehouse tasks and/or duties.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
Ability to reach overhead.
Ability to lift up to 50 -100 lbs.
