Position Focus:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Life, the Associate Director would be an integral part of the team, providing direct student services to all YSN students from acceptance through graduation. The Associate Director develops and implements programs and practices that fosters holistic student learning and development through the advancement of high-impact educational and career-development programs. This position assists a diverse population of students with advising, academic planning, and achieving their professional goals while ensuring students are meeting academic program requirements. This position also develops, coordinates, and implements programs/services that help support students' academic achievement, development, and retention. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for collecting and analyzing data and providing recommendations for student success. Serves as an advocate and referral source for students; educates students on policies and procedures, plans and coordinates activities related to new student orientation and other initiatives that contribute to student success. Works closely with faculty advisors and school leadership. Oversees student accommodations and serves as liaison with Yale’s Student Accessibility Services Office. Creates and shares student success tips to retain and engage with students. Supervise Student Life staff. Essential Duties Contribute to integrated unit support for students with specific needs. Serve as a liaison to the faculty across all specialties and degree programs. Research and incorporate national trends and data-supported practices that foster student success and wellbeing, including the retention and success of historically underserved student populations; in collaboration with YSN’s Director of Institutional Research, maintain and analyze current databases, collect new data through surveys and other means as required to assess areas of need, determine programmatic effectiveness, and evaluate student outcomes. Oversees student accommodations and serves as liaison with Yale’s Student Accessibility Services Office; works collaboratively with faculty and staff across all YSN programs to ensure that accommodations processes and policies are effectively designed and implemented. Coordinate and deliver comprehensive career services for YSN students; provides career counseling, mock interviews, resume advisement, and application assistance; design and deliver workshops, networking events and other education opportunities that meet student career needs. Assess learning and development outcomes, determine program evaluation results; and modify programs accordingly. Serves as a liaison to YSN Alumni Association and the Yale Office of International Students and Scholars. Contribute to unit strategic planning, policy development, program implementation, marketing and communications activity, personnel, infrastructure, and budget matters. Assist with the coordination and execution of orientation, commencement and student organization programming. Ensures continuity of student success policies, procedures and programming between residential and online degree programs. Manages YSN Student Life Ambassadors, Peer Counselors, and Orientation Leaders.
