The position of Drawing Automation Specialist will support the evolution and optimization of Equipment offers by facilitating our digitization journey and enabling us to profitably grow our market share for US Power Systems. This role will be part of a new Middle Office Offer Optimization high-performance team that will be responsible for the automation and quality of product configuration output to drive end to end ETO efficiency. The position of Drawing Automation Specialist will be responsible for the configurable drawing output for customers, sales, order engineering, and manufacturing to support the specific needs for quotes and orders.
Job Description
- Ensure execution alignment with the overall CTO and Wiring Simplification ambitions enabling reduced lead times by driving order engineering and shop floor labor productivity
- Develop and maintain product configurator logic and AutoCAD symbol library to automatically generate Front Elevations, One Lines, General Notes, Top and Bottom Views per customer order.
- Work successfully on a cross-functional team composed of Order Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Selector Teams, and other Middle Office teams like Technology, Automation, and Data Analytics team
- Work in tandem with Electrical Design Engineer to allocate electrical schematics to achieve our CTO and Wiring Simplification ambitions.
- Serve as flexible capacity across multiple products to support CTO priorities.
- Test, certify, and recertify configurator outputs for all Offer Development projects in Middle Office scope.
- Improve drawing quality by researching drawing automation outputs from configurator for various product applications and Order Engineering "fixes" that can be applied to product configurator generated output.
- Continuously seek drawing automation development, process improvement, and efficiency opportunities.
Primary Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding of the Engineered to Order business processes and applications (Desired)
- Experience using ACE configurator content development and testing tools. (Desired)
- Drafting skills to layout a complete drawing package for a given sales order providing logical placement of views across multiple pages.
- Configurator skills to utilize drawing automation commands that will generate the views across multiple pages as well as utilize drawing navigation commands that position blocks by accounting for multiple instances of section structures and cell compartments.
- Experience using AutoCAD drawing applications. (Required)
- Experience using ACE configurable drawing automation tools. (Desired)
- Knowledge of Schneider Electric / Square D low and medium voltage electrical distribution products. (Desired)
- Accountable, self-motivated, and proactive
- Solid and pragmatic problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills to work collaboratively with remote teams and management.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse workplace with people from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
