Job Description


Summary

Responsible for management of a site to include full responsibility of profit and loss, human resource management and operational excellence at a strategic management level. Manage Operations and Laboratory Supervisors at one location and lead day-to-day activities to achieve greater Operational Excellence for our customers.

Job Functions

  • Identify performance trends by site location and determine clear plan to address areas of concerns and leverage best practice performance
  • Assess talent at the branch and ensure appropriate key talent plans are in place to develop team members
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and coaching to Operations Supervisors and Laboratory Supervisors
  • Assure that appropriate staffing levels are maintained, that the staff is qualified, properly trained and equipped
  • Overall responsibility of staff development and performance
  • Overall responsibility for local contribution and P&L
  • Maintain an active role in local marketing efforts
  • Monitor branch field and laboratory services to assure the highest level of Operational Excellence, compliance with contractual obligations and company policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to assure that all supervisor personnel and team members are kept completely informed regarding policies, procedures and performance goals
  • Work with local sales team to ensure a collaborative working relationship with customers, develop well established contracts, and grow current market
  • Work with regional sales team to review market analysis and support growth strategies
  • Make recommendations to Area Manager or Regional Director regarding improvements to the Branch operations and other areas as appropriate
  • Responsible for maintaining local facility
  • Maintain staff morale, and comply with HR policies and procedures
  • Assist with field work when necessary
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct

Qualifications


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with 7+ years direct transferable industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct managerial or supervisory responsibility to include budget and P&L. (Required)
  • Must be able to travel domestically. (Required)
  • Must be able to work unconventional hours at times. (Required)
  • Demonstrate leadership skills, including a desire to supervise subordinates. (Preferred)
  • API and ASTM Membership (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (Preferred)
  • Must maintain valid Driver’s License and TWIC card once obtained through course of employment (Required)
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification (Preferred)

  • Has working knowledge of basic concepts and procedures; performs a variety of tasks or assignments (Required)

  • Language Skills: English – Basic level (Required)

  • Communication Skills: Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and/or groups both within the organization or while representing the organization (Required)
  • Flexibility: Must be flexible with ability to accept changes in instructions on short notice (Required)
  • Individual must be dependable and reliable whose daily presence adds to the success of the Department (Required)
  • Must have a positive attitude and show eagerness to accomplish goals and achieve desired results while working independently or in a team setting (Required)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision (Required)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, while performing numerous projects with different deadlines (Required)
  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources into solutions (Required)
