Position Summary/Objective:

The Chemist II will be responsible for the development of new coatings and primers and provide technical assistance and support of current customers and products. Other responsibilities include product portfolio enhancement, profitability improvement, and broaden technology innovation and Intellectual Property.

Essential Job Functions:

• 
  Lead the development of functional coatings, barrier coatings, primers, and other materials for the food and industrial packaging market.
• Handle multiple projects in parallel with variable development timelines depending on the nature of the project and customer expectations.
• Determine problem cause, test, analyze, and implement product and process improvements.
• Execute systematic project management using a stage gate process from ideation to a successful commercial launch.
• Follow ISO procedures and utilize DfSS and statistical analysis to drive the continuous improvements in product performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop a good understanding of the chemistry, structure-property relationship of the products.
• Keep track of latest technology trend and develop new and creative solutions to problems.
• Work independently
• Detail-oriented, organized and demonstrate good writing and oral communication skills.
• Interact and establish good relationship with customers and vendors.
• Demonstrate proficiency in M/S suite software and other professional software used in the lab.
• Follow Chemical Hygiene Plan and look for safety improvements.

Required Experience & Education:

• BS Degree or equivalent, in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.
• 3-10 years’ formulation and commercialization experience
