About The Job
The Community Service Worker is required to work in close consultation with the Corps Leader/Officer(s) in providing practical assistance to the community in need and implement effective community outreach programmes.
The Community Service Worker has to ensure that he/she performs the job in compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures including the Territorial Child Protection Policy and all relevant government rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- In consultation with Corps Leader/Officer, assist in planning and implementing any Corps & community programmes
- Assess the needs of the people in need through the Community outreach programmes
- Investigate cases that need help and produce a full investigation report for further action
- Carry out one or more of the action plans for clients after their needs have been identified
- Work closely with Social Welfare Department, hospitals, clinics and other community organizations to share information and find resources for The Salvation Army clients
- Produce a weekly report on the daily work done on community services
- Help to coordinate any emergency relief works and organizing fund-raising when required
- Provide spiritual guidance and offer prayer support to clients as needed and/or accompany Corps Leader/Officer(s) and members to minister to clients
- Attend and encourage clients to participate in Corps outreach activities and Sunday meetings and other children/youth/adult programmes
- Participate and contribute towards the annual budget preparation as and when required by the Corps Leader/Officer
- Maintain professional conduct in dealing with children, parents, volunteers, donors, colleagues and the Corps Leader/Officer(s)
- Represent The Salvation Army in receiving donations and other networking events as and when requested by the Corps Officer
- Support and participate in The Salvation Army fund raising events e.g. jumble sale, charity sales, etc.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (one hour lunch break)
- Saturday: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
- Flexibility in working schedule is required when necessary
As you are expected to perform 48 work hours per week, there may be times that you may be required to perform beyond your above normal hours to fit in with the needs of the Corps/Centre or at the discretion of the Corps Officer.

- Diploma or SPM holders
Competencies
- People oriented, able to work independently and multi-tasking
- Meticulous, analytical with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good documentation and IT skills, , preferably knowledge with MS Office.
