The primary objective of this position is to provide a comprehensive and diverse intramural sports and special events program for the University of Maine community and to plan, direct and coordinate year-round youth camp and sports programs offered through Campus Recreation and via contract with the local municipality in cooperation with the Assistant Director, Competitive Sports and Youth Programs and the Town of Orono. Typical hiring range for this position is $42,000 to $45,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:
- Typically has the education associated with a bachelor’s degree in Recreational Management, Sports Management/Administration, Physical Education or related area, or equivalent combination of directly related training and experience.
- Certification in CPR and compulsory childcare background checks required, or the ability to obtain these within two months of hire.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative and to manage multiple tasks and deadlines are essential.
- Ability to travel normally, requiring a driver’s license.
Preferred:
- Computer and database skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of sports, rules, and officiating skills.
- Previous experience working with elementary aged children in camp/school setting.
- Prior supervisory experience.
