- Masters or Ed.S. degree in School Psychology required
- Meet the requirements, at a minimum, under R380.20I et seq for a preliminary School Psychologist certificate as outlined by the Michigan State Department of Education
- Experience in collaborative consultation
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community
- Knowledge of general education curriculum and adaptation
- Experience in conducting functional behavior assessments and developing behavior plans
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and oral mode
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Conduct extensive psychological evaluation of referred pupils as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Collaborate with teachers in developing curriculum, behavior management and teaching strategies
- Consult and counsel referred pupils, administrators, school personnel, parents and others concerning students' educational needs
- Interpret psychological and other diagnostic data to school personnel, parents, pupils and others
- Serve as possible members of building level Key Identified Personnel Teams
- Lead & Facilitate initial & 3 year re-evaluations following MARSE
- Serve as a member of the Individual Educational Planning Team
- Make recommendations on ways to assist referred students(s)
- Ability to communicate effectively and deal with coworkers effectively and professionally
- Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance
- Follow work rules
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem-solving meetings designing systems, programs and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success. In collaboration with staff, families, students, and communities the school psychologist promotes effective educational environments.
