Role Summary

The Outreach Coordinator’s primary role is to build trusting relationships with survivors of the sex trade, intentionally engaging new clients, identifying their immediate needs, and connecting them to services at REST and other community organizations. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of REST’s 24/7 hotline, text outreach, and street outreach. The Outreach Coordinator will often be the first point of contact for new clients and will be key to bridging the gap and reducing the barriers between the sex trade and services. This position reports to the Emergency Services Supervisor and is a part of the Emergency Services Team. This position works closely with all of REST’s direct service staff, as their goal is to connect new clients with additional services.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff answering the 24/7 hotline provide quality care, resources, and support to callers
  • Follow up with new hotline callers, both over the phone and in person, in order to meet their immediate needs and connect them with services at REST and community agencies
  • Implement weekly text outreach to inform potential clients of options for services and support using the Victim Reach Out platform in partnership with The Lantern Project
  • Train, schedule, and oversee a team of volunteers to provide a consistent non-judgmental presence on the street biweekly
  • Build rapport and trust with survivors through outreach to increase their engagement
  • Assist new clients to identify their immediate individualized goals and access services within or outside of REST that will be most effective in helping them to reach their goals
  • Monitor, evaluate, and explore ways to improve engagement in-person and virtually across direct outreach efforts
  • Identify areas of unreached survivors and develop effective strategies to reach them
  • Ensure compliance with REST policies and procedures
  • Complete regular documentation including client reporting, monthly reports, grant reports, financial reports
  • Ensure culturally appropriate and responsive care is provided to all victims and survivors who interact with REST
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The successful candidate must believe in the core values of REST and be driven by the mission. Beyond that, we are seeking a candidate with proven experience in engaging new clients and assisting them to access resources.

  • 2+ years experience working with vulnerable populations
  • Must have a history of demonstrating a person-centered and trauma-informed approach to care for victims of trauma
  • Knowledgable on the topic of sex trafficking and the sex trade
  • Exhibits a warm and welcoming demeanor, with confidence in communication
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and professional skills
  • Demonstrated success supervising and leading effective teams
  • Ability to build a cohesive working relationship among a diverse team
  • Ability to plan well, manage time, and delegate effectively
  • Ability to organize, discern, and problem-solve creatively and under pressure
  • Able to engage in active listening and communication to relay accurate information
  • Must be able to thrive in a highly intense, and often times unpredictable, work environment
  • Ability to respond to crisis and/or escalated behavior with calm and confidence
  • Able to manage personal trauma responses in a professional manner
  • Able to effectively work in a diverse workplace; be self-aware regarding issues of race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion/spirituality and disability
  • Strong sense of self-identification, personal coping skills, emotion regulation and conflict resolution
  • Technology skills: iPhone, email; basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, Google Drive

  • Must be able to work harmoniously with REST’s Statement of Faith
  • Must have reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and clean driving record
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and move up and down stairs

Schedule

40 hours/week. This position typically works Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Occasional on call and outside hours may be required. Some holidays may be required, and some seasons may require more than 40 hours/week.

Location

REST’s office is located in South Seattle.

Compensation

REST has adopted a salary scale as part of its compensation plan. A range indicates the intention to accommodate those with varying years of relevant experienced, as determined by the salary scale. All positions are paid above the 50th percentile according to the most recent King County Wage and Benefit Survey for nonprofits

Benefits

This position is eligible for all benefits offered to full-time non-exempt employees. This currently starts at 15 days vacation, 10 days sick, 10 holidays, 100% employer paid medical/dental/vision premiums for employee, one paid mental health hour each week, and a 403b retirement plan.
