American Express is embarking on an exciting transformation on building the next generation customer first ecosystem for democratizing A.I./Machine Learning in Amex on the Cloud. You will be leading an energetic A.I./Machine Learning Platform Engineering team, collaborating with various business/product partners (e.g. Credit, Fraud, Enterprise Automation, Servicing etc.) to drive strategic planning and a cohesive set of technology solutions enabling Augmented Intelligence.

This role within American Express Technology (AET) Digital, Data, Intelligence and Marketing Technology Organization, will report into the VP Engineering, AI Services and Governance.

Responsibilities:

• Drive A.I./Machine Learning Engineering vision, strategy, and execution across Amex
• Lead the AI Governance platform – Discovery, Development and Maintenance of AI Governance capabilities
• Participates in researching industry best practices in model risk management and model risk governance, with particular attention to regulatory and audit expectations
• Partner with Research teams and Labs to take AI enabled initiatives from conceptualization to productionalization
• Responsible for end to end delivery and execution of platform capabilities using on-prem and cloud capabilities
• Lead a highly technical Engineering team and play a visible role in implementing innovative technology and A.I./Machine Learning solutions with other industry-leading partners
• Closely follow research and open-source developments/publications and apply them.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related STEM fields. Advanced degree preferred.
• 12+ years full lifecycle product development and engineering leadership in highly available, highly scalable, high throughput systems
• Experience building and delivering sophisticated platforms that use various machine learning algorithms or technologies and are able to scale optimally.
• Understanding of Model Governance and Federal mandates from regulators
• Understanding of Operational risk management and model management policies and experience working with
• Programming Language: Python, Java,
• DB: Postgres, MySQL,
• Tools & Frameworks: Jupyter, Git, Jenkins, Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, FastAPI, Flask
• Orchestrate: Airflow, Kubeflow Pipelines, BPMN tools
• Container Technology: Docker, Kubernetes
• Model Serving: Kubeflow KF Serving, TF Serving, Seldon-Core, MLflow
• Observability: Elasticsearch, Kibana
• Distributed processing: Hadoop, Apache Spark
• Public Cloud Certification such as GCP Cloud Architect/Developer strongly preferred.
• Strong team leadership and talent development attitude
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range: $170,000.00 to $255,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
