SUMMARY

We are looking for a skilled storyteller who is creative about how we tell those stories, from channels to format to timing, to get the right information out at the right time. You will need to distill complex messages and ideas into simple, honest and compelling communications. You will need to be attentive to detail and zoom in to master the details and zoom out to keep an eye on the big picture. You are an excellent writer who can quickly understand and articulate what we need employees to know, feel, and do. You are also able to deliver succinct talking points and superb written communications for the organisation. You will be working in Wisma Tune and will be reporting directly to the Internal Communications and Culture Manager.

You will fit perfectly if you have strong storytelling skills and strong interpersonal skills including the ability to excel in a fast-paced and highly-collaborative working environment. Your key focus is to improve company alignment, employee engagement, employer branding and crisis communications.

SALARY RANGE : RM 3,100 - RM 5,800

A DAY IN A LIFE

As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior managers

  • Cultivate a clear understanding of the company’s mission, goals, core values and working style to align teams within Teleport through clear and impactful communication.

  • Communicate the company’s strategy and rationale behind our goal & deliverables to all teams in an easy, honest and compelling way at the right time or via major internal events (town hall, internal Q&A sessions).

  • Ensuring that teams and stakeholders are:

    • Informed and inspired about the work they do and how they fit into the larger Teleport strategy

    • Aware of the company’s biggest moments, achievements and initiatives.

  • Creative brand storytelling - be it the human stories or even the issues we’re trying to solve to create a vibrant culture that attracts and retains the best talent for Teleport.

  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as email, social media and other internal communications platforms. You may also be required to work on the layout of content

  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team

  • Support BCP team led by Standards & Safety to ensure internal staff is well informed of any developments.

  • Handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organisational perception and reputation.

SKILLS

These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role:

  • A clear communicator: Proven ability to manage and translate complex business issues into compelling and clear messages and drive communication activities to support transformation, change management and culture initiatives

  • A skilled story-teller: High-quality copywriting, speech writing, presentation planning and delivery skills

  • Be culturally and politically sensitive: proven ability to take an inclusive approach by working internationally with central, regional and country organisations

  • Strong empathetic skills: listening, adopting right tone of voice and tuned in to the pulse of the organisation

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in communications or a related field

  • Experience working with senior leaders to develop communications for a matrixed regional organization
