The Division of Enterprise Operations, Bureau of Enterprise Fleet, maintains a fleet of vehicles for state employees to use for state business travel in lieu of their own vehicles. Central Fleet handles approximately 30,000 reservations each year, in addition to billing, maintenance, refueling and coordinating accident repairs.

Position Summary


Under the general supervision of the Enterprise Fleet Manager, in the Department of Administration (DOA) Division of Enterprise Operations, Bureau of Enterprise Fleet, this position supervises the daily operations of DOA Central Fleet which maintains and rents approximately 120 vehicles for use by over 4,000 state and UW employees in the Madison area to travel for state business purposes.

This position supervises the provision of vehicles to state agencies and the UW in the Madison area and the University of Wisconsin—Madison in a cost-effective and efficient manner. This position supervises the maintenance and repair of the vehicles to make sure they are reliable, clean, and in top operating order. This position supervises the invoicing and purchase orders associated with Central Fleet operations and assists with fleet budget, policies and procedures. This position supervises the reservation and rental services and develops strategies to provide excellent customer service to Central Fleet drivers

Salary Information


The Central Fleet Supervisor is in schedule-range (81-04) with an hourly rate of $29.00- $32.00 per hour, as well as excellent state benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details


Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

Candidates must meet the following “minimum standards for driving State-owned, leased, or rented vehicles” including:

  • A valid driver’s license
  • A minimum of two years licensed driving experience
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Do not have 3 or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past 2 years
  • No OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months

Qualifications


Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with all the following:

  • Management of fleet services and vehicle rental operations
  • Fleet vehicle maintenance and repair operations
  • Supervision of staff, including recruitment, performance feedback, and coaching

In addition, well-qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Processing monthly billing vehicle rentals
