National Vision is currently looking for a Leave and Disability Specialist to join our growing team!

The role administers the company's Leave of Absence/FMLA and Disability absence programs in accordance with all federal and multi-state government regulations; including FMLA and ADA in order to mitigate potential risk to the organization.


Job Description


What Would You Do? The Specifics.

  • Interprets and administers all aspects of the company’s leave of absence (LOA) programs in accordance with all federal and applicable state employment laws, including FMLA and ADA.
  • Independently determines associate’s leave of absence eligibility under federal and state regulations (e.g. approvals, denials, extensions and return to work transitions) based on relevant medical information.
  • Counsels associates on leave policies, practices and procedures.
  • Conducts thorough case management on active leave of absences, including intermittent leaves and accommodation requests.
  • Guides management on adherence of the employment laws that protect associates with serious health conditions or qualifying reasons.
  • Directs and advises the Disability Assistant on administrative tasks to ensure all LOA/FMLA notifications are provided within the legal requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between the associate and the disability carrier.
  • Thoroughly documents leave of absence cases within NVI’s systems such as UKG (HRIS system) and Presagia (LOA case management system) to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Partners with management to ensure absences and return-to-work transitions are managed according to organizational policy and procedures.
  • Ensures ADA accommodation requests are reviewed, investigated and resolved in accordance with ADA/FMLA guidelines.
  • Thoroughly documents leave of absence cases within NVI’s systems such as Ultipro (HRIS system) and Presagia (LOA case management system) to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Collaborates with Employee Relations and Legal department to ensure the associate’s rights are protected under the law.
  • Partners with Unemployment Coordinator in the gathering of information for unemployment claims when necessary.


Qualifications


Work Experience

  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training (Required)
  • thorough knowledge of FMLA, LOA, and ADA regulations (Required)

Education

  • Four year college degree or equivalent experience. Required

Licenses, Certifications, Professional Affiliations

  • DMEC Certification (Preferred)

  • MS Office skills including presentation/powerpoint, Spreadsheet, and Word Required
  • Leave Management Software/Case Management Software Preferred
