• Patient care: They provide medical care to patients who have digestive system symptoms, such as abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, and nausea. They conduct physical exams, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
• Collaboration with other healthcare professionals: They work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, surgeons, and nurses, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Medical procedures: They perform various medical procedures such as colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and endoscopic ultrasound to diagnose and treat digestive system disorders.
• Medication management: They prescribe and manage medications to treat digestive system disorders, such as acid reflux, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and irritable bowel syndrome.
• Documentation: They maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient history, diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress reports.
