Under the general direction of the Front Office Manager and as a part of the Front Office team, the Patient Service Assistant is responsible for concierge services, providing a high level of customer service, general operation of appointment registration, triaging calls, and general assistance for the department of Radiation Oncology and its satellite locations. Major functions include answering high volume telephone lines, pre-registrations, scheduling new patient referrals, follow up appointments, checking in patients and cashiering for the Integrated Clinics.

* Working knowledge of Radiation Oncology, cancer, and medical terminology - preferred * Ability to file alphabetically and numerically. * Ability to modify and adapt office procedures to changing operational needs. * Ability to use discretion when handling and dealing with classified information. * Interpersonal skills to relate effectively with staff, physicians, patients and co-workers. * Skill in making travel arrangements, coordinating calendars for appointments, and acting as informational liaison between various parties. * Skill in organizing/coordinating a variety of information, materials, and people in a systematic way to optimize efficiency and minimize duplication of effort. * Skill in prioritizing assignments when faced with heavy workload, deadlines, and competing requests for service in order to complete tasks in a timely manner.
