About the Role
Part of the Accounting & Finance Team, the Payroll Specialist will have responsibility for all payroll operations. A successful candidate will leverage incredible attention to detail and technical capabilities to fully utilize the payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. They will bring strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse, cross-functional team. They are trustworthy and can handle sensitive and confidential information in a tactful manner.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Ensure payrolls are prepared and processed accurately and timely according to the pay calendars.
- Prepare bi-weekly analysis, account reconciliations, month end accruals, as required.
- Coordinate all payroll tax, insurance, and benefit audits.
- Ensure all compliance is met with our 401(k) reporting, including required testing. Annual coordination of 401(k) audit.
- Maintain detailed records around employee benefit costs, insurance analysis and accruals.
- Process employee garnishment orders
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws including remittance of payroll taxes.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure continued accuracy.
- Accurately monitor and reconcile Paid Time Off
- Coordinate payroll general ledger processing with accounting
- Provide service support to employees, other departments, and management in a timely manner.
- Support ongoing initiatives for process improvement, data security, data privacy, cybersecurity, and data protection
Required/Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum five (5) years of experience administering multistate payroll.
- Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred.
- Experience with payroll software implementations preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting and analysis skills.
- Detail and deadline oriented.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Expertise in multi-function, multi-discipline organization with payroll compliance requirements for a remote, asynchronous, and irregular workforce
- Expertise in payroll administration, garnishments, and related processes and compliance tasks
- Expertise in payroll recordkeeping requirements and data privacy/protection
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- A work environment that is conducive to high quality virtual interactions. This includes but is not limited to being able to work from a quiet space with minimal interruptions or distractions, and a strong internet connection.
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000 - $80,000 annually, depending on experience
