Principal Embedded Software Engineer - xEVAS (Hybrid)
Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
Collins Aerospace Space Systems is looking for a Principal Software Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our team in Houston, TX to develop real time embedded solutions in C/C++ for the Next Generation Spacesuit. Experience with developing software to run under bare metal implementations and Real Time Operating Systems are required. Reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, the ideal candidate is a highly engaged software engineer who has passion for developing distributed software solutions and solving challenging problems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop software solutions conforming to approved development plans and department software policies.
- Analyze customer and system requirements.
- Author software documentation and participate in design reviews
- Perform software development testing and hardware integration utilizing a combination of analysis and laboratory test equipment.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancements to existing systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other software and systems engineers.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desired experience with ARM 0 and ARM 4 processors
- Experience with bare metal software development for real time embedded systems
- Strong debug and integration skills
- Experience using JTAG and UART
- Experience with Agile and V model software development methodologies
- Experience with RTOS
- Experience with Embedded C, Rust, GCC, GDB
