Overview:
Title: Program Development Specialist, Children's Services
Civil Service Title: Community Service Aide

Under the supervision of the Director for the Division of Children’s Services (DCS), performs work duties supporting the operation of the Division.

Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge of the procedures and policies directly related to the position and DCS after a period of training
  • Maintain the essential records and files
  • Ability to identify the needs of youth population and the community as a whole and to identify resources to meet those needs
  • Develop written communication material to convey information concerning a range of subject related to the Division’s progress
  • Provide advice and technical assistance when necessary
  • Compare each monthly expense reports to the agency contract to identify discrepancies
  • Perform work requiring constant/close attention to clerical and numerical detail
  • Carry out recurring assignments independently and in accord with established procedures and policies
  • Liaison between DCS and the Fiscal Department
  • Review and analyze a variety of accounting records and fiscal activities to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal/contractual requirements
  • Assist with monitoring visits
  • Attend meeting with stakeholders and contractors
  • Disseminate information to Boards and Committees
  • Assist with conducting surveys, gathering data/information, and community projects
  • Prepare reports
  • Communicate with State representatives
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
Education :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’ degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
  • An Associate’s degree with 2 years of post-graduate experience working in social work or related field can be subsisted for the education requirement.

Skills and Experience:

  • Must be computer literate, with the ability to adapt to new programs and systems
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Will be required to learn and utilize various computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, JAMS (Juvenile Automated Management System), etc.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationship with supervisors, co-workers and collaborating agencies
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills

  • To add, subtract, multiply, divide, and find averages/percentages
  • To apply arithmetic principles and to correct computational errors
  • To orally express oneself clearly and concisely, imparting information, answering questions, and explaining activities and/or directions in a manner appropriate for listeners.
  • Proficiency in Excel


License:

Applicant will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position.
