Job Summary:
The Radiology Technical Assistant provides general support to the Imaging Department. This includes preparing the patient for the procedure/exam, transporting the patient, assisting the technologist to transfer and position the patient, assisting the technologist to perform the exam if so assigned, keeping exam rooms clean and stocked with supplies, and other general technical and clerical support. The Radiology Technical Assistant team member will assist in coordinating an interdisciplinary approach to the patient while promoting continuity of care through communication of the patient's plan, condition and progress towards outcomes. The Radiology Technical Assistant team member will participate and demonstrate effective education and support for patients and their families to meet their physiological, psychological and spiritual needs. He/she practices within the boundaries of the applicable licensure/registration/certification board and/or agency, specialty standards, and organizational/department policies and procedures. The Radiology Technical Assistant will assist with data entry and delivery as trained to support the Film Library processes.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Customer Relations, Organizational, Verbal Communication - The Radiology Tech Aid is the first face a customer may see and meet when entering the radiology department. Good communication is very important for this position.
  • Healthcare Provider CPR – (American Heart Association or American Red Cross); required within 90 days from date of hire
Key Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to and/or maintains departmental policies and procedures, to be regulatory compliant with TJC, OSHA, safety standards, or other regulatory agencies.
  • Demonstrates flexibility required to meet changing priorities.
  • Maintains respectful working relationships with co-workers and encourages the team approach.
  • Approaches work in a manner that makes quality improvement a part of every activity.
  • Identify each patient by first name, last name, and date of birth.
  • Greet any individual entering radiology as a customer. This includes immediate co-workers, other department staff, the patient and family members. Customer service is a primary focus.
  • Focus on providing high quality individualized patient centered workflow. Before releasing the patient, assure that the entire patient process is finished.
  • Be prepared to assist in other departments. A willingness to assist outside of your own work area is critical to our staffing and patient care needs.
  • Each team member in radiology needs to assist in identifying ways to more efficiently deliver healthcare. This often means looking at our current workflow as well as how we interact with other departments to streamline processes.
