    REPORTS TO: Campus Principal

    WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt

    PAY GRADE: Para 3


    PRIMARY PURPOSE:

    The Receptionist will assist in providing information and direction to staff, students, parents and public and clerical duties as assigned by the principal.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required:

    • HS Diploma from an accredited institution and
    • Independent School District’s NCLB test in the area of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (Tests are administered after the recommendation for hire) and must
    obtain an Educational Aide Certification
    • Completion of at least two years of study at an institution or higher defined as 48 hours of college coursework
    • Must obtain Educational Aide Certification

    Preferred:

    • 1 yr job related experience
    • Bilingual and able to read, write and speak Spanish proficiently

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to work well with children
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficient in both written and verbal use of English, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
    • Ability to multi-task without interruptions

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting.
    • Receive and greet visitors, obtain names and nature of business and direct to appropriate personnel.
    • Ability to maintain a friendly atmosphere for parents and patrons.
    • Operate telecommunication system to screen calls, transfer calls, respond to inquiries and/or take messages.
    • Evaluate situations/questions and take appropriate action or direct to appropriate personnel for solution.
    • Process documents/materials and disseminate to appropriate parties.
    • Prepare and maintain records/reports as required by Federal, State, and local laws/regulations.
    • Participate in staff development and faculty meetings as assigned.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned

    WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:


    The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
    Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
