PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contract management
- Manage market data related contracts (renewals, cancellations, on-going review/maintenance, spend, internal coordination, approvals, etc)
- Negotiate market data contracts with savings and cost avoidance in mind
- Maintain awareness of market data and third-party licensing policies and inform stakeholders
- Maintain awareness of RBC’s policies, regulations and best practices to remediate and/or mitigate risk within market data
- Business Engagement
- Provide leadership on best practices and options on market data services for RBC Enterprise
- Provide support to global RBC user community on market data needs
- Participate in re-curing and adhoc market data meetings, projects and planning sessions and provide subject matter expertise; meeting with all global businesses and all levels
- Develop a strong understanding of RBC businesses, procedures and processes in order to identify opportunities for market data service improvements
- Supplier Management/Vendor Engagement
- Engage with market data suppliers on a regular basis to review market data requirements, issues, changes, updates, etc
- Ensure all market data suppliers adhere to internal supplier management and business continuity requirements; also ensuring all documents and related internal systems are updated accordingly; can involve working with various internal groups (ie Legal, Finance, Functions, etc)
- Evaluate and review new market data products and providing recommendations on services or solutions for RBC Enterprise
- Coordinate meetings or be an escalation point for Market Data Suppliers and the RBC stakeholders
- Analytics/Reporting
- Manage RBC I&TS market data usage reporting whenever required
- Support RBC I&TS Market Data costs recovery process
- Prepare and report market data spend to the business and assist in annual budgeting exercises
- Produce ad-hoc, monthly and quarterly detailed reporting with valued added commentary, analysis and metrics
- Prepare or review Dashboard Reporting/Presentations/Decks on market data related topics for various RBC audiences
- Ensure and/or coordinate market data commercials, related content, notifications and necessary details are updated in the Market Data database (MDM)
- Product Research/Industry Intelligence
- Seek out sources and solutions for market data strategy per RBC business requirements
- Research industry trends and provide guidance on alternative solutions or changes impacting market data
- Participate in industry working groups to lobby for consistent policies across data provider community
- Collaborate with various internal RBC groups and peers to identify improvements or alternative approaches
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Familiarity with Market Data suppliers and services (3 Years’ experience)
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Client Focus, Strategic agility, Priority setting, Business acumen, Analytical Thinking, Aptitude for setting realistic expectations, Strategic business sense, Integrity and Trust
- Experience defining clear solutions and strategy based on requirements presented
Desirable
- Experience in Market Data procurement & contract negotiation.
- High level understanding of Market Data tools (MDM, FITS or similar) and control mechanisms (DACS, DART, EMRS) an asset.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Reporting/dashboard tools. I.e. tableau, qlikview ect.
- Analytical work collecting information from multiple sources and requiring attention to detail
- Coordination and collaboration required with colleagues and partners located throughout the world
- Interpretation of new policies defined by third parties that may have a significant financial impact, reputational risk or liability if not adhered to
- Time sensitive and demanding user community (trading environment representing $Bs in daily transactions for RBC)
- Regularly shifting priorities
Job Summary
- This position supports the market data needs for RBC Financial Group globally, including providing solutions and reviewing existing tools (and their associated costs). Market data provides the tools for revenue generation in multiple RBC businesses. For most RBC enterprise businesses, market data is a critical dependency for revenue generation. Business partners are a demanding group of investment and risk management professionals who depend on timely and accurate market information for effective decision making. The role requires an astute business advisor and diplomat who understands not only the data, but also the business lines being served
- This position is the primary face of Market Data in front of third party data providers and RBC internal business partners globally. As part of our global Market Data team, this position partners with other Market Data teams, business and technology professionals located in RBC offices worldwide. Duties include providing leadership to ensure the procurement, negotiation and maintenance of market data contracts.
