Role Summary:
Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes associated with pump repair and redesign involving machining, assembly, and testing. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, and production. Analyzes and improves quality, cost, and delivery by using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Provides engineering support in production departments by trouble shooting and resolving technical issues.
Responsibilities:
  • Reviews disassembly, cleaning, and inspection reports of pumps from personnel and interpret customer specifications/instructions, and develops high-level scope of work for QRC jobs when required and in compliance with Flowserve procedures.
  • Implements engineering best practices and Flowserve standards such as weld procedures, bolt torque, materials selection, hydro test, etc.
  • Identify upgrade opportunities and support the generation of technical proposals to support such upgrades. Liaise/collaborate with Engineering Services/Project Engineering when non-generic upgrades/solutions would be opportune/required. Support technical and commercial justification analysis.
  • Act as engineering liaison for Project Engineering during order fulfilment phase.
  • Accountable for documenting and communicating design changes initiated by the QRC per the applicable procedures and systems.
  • Accountable for reviewing and noting/documenting customer’s or 3rd party changes per the applicable procedures and systems.
  • First technical contact for witnesses; review specifications & requirements for visit.
  • Responsible for failure analysis reports of specific jobs, as required.
  • Support sales to present FLS technical capabiliities to Customers
  • Supports the QRC concerning all engineering issues including but not limited to nonconformance disposition, supporting machinists and supporting shop mechanics during assembly.
  • Provide sketches to facilitate quick repairs.
  • Reverse engineer pump components and create manufacturing drawing based on current manufacturing standards.
  • Partners with Manufacturing Supervisors to achieve Flowserve goals and objectives.
  • Understands and supports all Company objectives and performs duties delegated by management.
  • Enforces safety rules by ensuring that tooling, fixtures, and process meet all applicable OSHA regulations.
  • Enforces Flowserve's environmental policies by ensuring that processes meet all applicable environmental regulations. Subcontractors are made aware of Flowserve's applicable environmental policies and are managed to these policies.

  • Treats all customers and fellow employees with respect.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience interpreting a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge and experience of CAD design and GD&T utilization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, engineering drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to write routine and technical correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Preferred:
  • 2-4 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
The pay range for this position is $84,916 - $127,433 per year.
