Job Description

This role is responsible for their respective department team members, processes, and functions related to the shipping/receiving of products from Jackson, Mi. location. This role will be responsible for maintaining implemented SOPs, training, and managing staff, and will be expected to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This position will report to the Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

  • Provide a safe, clean, and secure working environment for all team members.
  • Motivate, inspire, and foster teamwork within the Shipping/Receiving team to ensure that performance and productivity targets are achieved.
  • Oversee completion of daily/weekly/monthly shipping updates in multiple systems related to the transfer and shipment of inbound and outbound orders.
  • Manage daily outbound shipments including all export activities together with carriers, customs brokers, and other trade compliance partners while prioritizing Expedited Shipments.
  • Oversee the Packaging and Aftermarket Parts departments to prioritize workflows to maintain service objectives.
  • Support On-Time Delivery objectives by collaborating with Customer Experience team to ensure orders are being prioritized and shipped on time.
  • Identifies customer appointed freight that has not been dispatched and effectively escalates through cross-functional segments to ensure adherence to On-Time Delivery.
  • Provide regular updates relating to the status of shipments.
  • Administer supervision, training, scheduling, and guidance to shipping/receiving personnel. Assign work to staff, setting priorities for each.
  • Respond proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee matters.
  • Maintain transportation records applicable to billing, freight claims, and carrier performance.
  • Other duties/responsibilities may be assigned to this position at the managers discretion.

  • Proven experience managing people and shipping/receiving functions.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook)
