Job Description
This position will work under the direction of the event planner at DRI’s Northern Nevada campus to plan and implement internal and external events for DRI. Responsibilities may include room set-up for meetings and events, decorating, logistics (including set-up and tear-down) purchasing supplies online, ordering catering, shop for various event supplies, and meet and/or pick up catering deliveries. This position will also provide administrative support to the event planner and VPR office, including expense reports, purchasing card reconciliation, purchasing orders, etc.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent
- One year of full-time administrative or event planning experience
- Basic computers skills and working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, e-mail, internet, and scheduling programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel, including technical and academic staff
- Professionalism demonstrated through a high degree of confidentiality and the ability to exercise independent judgement
- Must have strong customer service, interpersonal, and team-oriented skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments with minimal supervision
- Possess a valid NV driver’s license by date of hire
- Reliable transportation for running errands
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience planning and implementing events
Compensation Grade
- $17.00 minimum per hour
Schedule
- Approximately 16-25 hours pers week; 1-2 days per week. Hours primarily Monday-Friday between 8am – 5pm, but requires some schedule flexibility to work special events outside of regular business hours
Physical Requirements
- This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks, such as moving, carrying, and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.; walking, sitting, and standing for prolonged periods of time; frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling to support event set-up and clean-up.
Conditions of Employment
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
- This position requires valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle to be able to travel to pick up various items for events.
