Responsibilities:
As a Senior Product Manager in the Product Planning team, you will be responsible for defining FPGA and adaptive SoC silicon products. This position requires an experienced product management professional who is capable of analyzing the needs of key customers and markets trends to define the next generation of adaptive computing products.

  • Capable of driving product definition for FPGA and adaptive SoC silicon technology in one or more of the following technology areas: Digital Signal Processing, SerDes and Networking Technologies, Power and Thermal Management, and Embedded Processing.
  • Must be able to understand what is required to deliver the "whole product" including non-silicon solutions (software, libraries, development tools, IP cores, demonstration boards, etc.), and ensure that the wider organization is executing to a complete plan.
  • Will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with peers in the planning team, vertical marketing teams and target customers to identify key applications and corresponding business plan and forecasts, that offer a significant revenue opportunity for AMD.
  • Can think clearly and logically to consolidate requirements and define specific products that meet the feature, cost, and availability requirements of the key applications and document these requirements in a Market Requirements Document (MRD) for silicon and solutions. Must be able to make the tough decisions and unambiguously state that a feature is either in or out of the product.
  • Must develop a close working relationship with engineering to determine development cost and schedule and make the necessary trade-offs. In this role the person must negotiate product features appropriately and refine the marketing requirements into a final plan of record as documented in a Product Requirements Document (PRD).
  • Can present confidently in a clear and concise manner to both executive level and technical audiences.
  • Uses good judgment, can operate in a dynamic environment, and manage changes to the plan of record as additional requirements are identified or technical issues arise.

Qualifications:
  • MS (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 6+ years of experience in product management (or bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience). MBA is a plus.
  • Engineering Experience with SoCs or FPGAs, including working with hardware IP is a plus.
  • Strong technical and communication skills to address multiple internal and external partners. Specifically, possess the technical ability to dialogue at a feature and IP level with internal hardware and software architects as well as external customer professionals.
  • Strong track record of delivering products and ensuring customer success
  • Experience with agile product development methodology and practices (JAMA/JIRA)
  • Self-starter with strong skills in multi-tasking, influencing, communicating, presenting, consensus and multi-functional team building
  • Demonstrable ability to think creatively to resolve technical issues and resource conflicts
  • Experience and passion in product development process and methodologies
  • Ability to convert highly technical value propositions into a compelling business case
