The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Swim Coach to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Swim Coach, you will

• Instruct in beginning to advanced swimming and safety skills according to age group and class swim level, by following YMCA Competitive Swimming guidelines.
• Prepare lesson plans with a natural progression of appropriate skills for the abilities and ages of the swimmers.
• Conduct swimming practices utilizing proper stroke techniques.
• Communicate with parents and keep accurate records of attendance and skill progression.
• Have the opportunity to change the lives of those in your community.

Are you a good fit?

• You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• You have one to two years related experience (preferred).
• You have previous experience working with youth preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.
• You have an active recreational coaching style.
• You are able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
• You have experience and knowledge in coaching a swim team (preferred).
• You are able to coach and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
• You love being in the water.
• Preferred certifications: YMCA Lifeguard and Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving certification.

Wage: $18.00 - $22.00 Per Hour
Hours: Up to 25 hours per week
Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA - Gig Harbor, WA
