Job Description
Under the direction of the Tourism Director, supports event preparation and execution. Event prep work will be done both indoors and outdoors. Flexibility in schedule is essential as tourism staff will be required to work events scheduled after regular business hours and/or during weekends. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and during event execution, may have to climb ladders as needed, hang banners and stand for extended periods of time.
1. Provides general support to visitors.
2. Basic bookkeeping duties (data entry, cash handling, account reconciliation).
3. Promotes merchandise sales during events.
4. Assist with receiving vendor applications. Assist with booth set up during event.
5. Social media skills required, assists will updating social media pages and event posts. Assists team with responding to social media inquiries. Posts event photos to social media during event.
6. Assist with banner, poster and flier distribution.
7. Creates in-house event material.
8. Responds to telephone calls and refers customers to appropriate person and/or department.
9. Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Job Functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) years of clerical experience; Advanced proficiency in the use of computer software applications: MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. PREFERENCE: Bilingual in English/Spanish; Acceptable Equivalency: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities - REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task. Must interpret and apply both written and oral instructions. General office skills to include typing and accounting functions. Excellent English grammar, spelling and punctuation. Must be proficient with MS Excel, Word and Publishing. Must be precise in numerical calculations and record preparation. Must be punctual and organized to meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with city staff and the public
